As partners to Forum for the Future, Aga Foodservice Group is committed to the pursuit of sustainable development and this commitment is clearly demonstrated in a recent article for Forum for the Future’s flagship publication, Green Futures.
In the article William McGrath explained the purpose of the prominently positioned wind turbine on Aga’s site at Coalbrookdale: “Telford is not the windiest place on the planet, but we’ve found that a lot of the time you can run your Aga from a wind turbine.” For the purposes of the trial a 5kW turbine has been set up by Aga to supply one of its existing range of electric Agas for day-to-day use.
William McGrath went on to explain Aga’s other initiatives focused on sustainability including its programmable electric Aga which can be set to come on at specific times. What needs to be remembered is that when you have an Aga you can do away with so many other electrical appliances around the kitchen. For example, electric kettles, toasters, microwaves – even the tumble drier! More importantly, at the end of the Aga’s very long life it can be recycled. About 70% of the material that goes into an Aga is indeed recycled.
