In 1908 Albert Dupuy invented the revolutionary La Cornue oven, using the principle of natural circulation of hot air in a ‘vaulted’ oven. One hundred years on and Albert Dupuy’s invention is the favourite of presidents and celebrities alike. Owners include Jacques Chirac, Silvio Berlusconi, Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt and Kylie Minogue. Apart from its ability to cook food to perfection, the La Cornue cooker is a style icon - as much at home in the traditional kitchen setting as it is in the contemporary kitchen.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, La Cornue is launching several new products: the Chateau range with its new high performance, more energy efficient burners; the CornuFé induction, offering ultra-precise cooking with five hotplates, rapid temperature increase and even heat distribution; and the AlberTine with 5 gas burners or 5 induction plates and a 110 litre oven. The AlberTine takes its names from La Cornue’s very beginnings and is a combination of the first names of the grandparents (Albert and Alexandrine) of La Cornue’s current Managing Director, Xavier Dupuy.
Xavier Dupuy commented: “La Cornue has always been a strong family brand and since its acquisition by the Aga Foodservice Group in 2004, it has benefitted immensely from becoming part of the Aga family of brands. The technological expertise provided by Rangemaster’s centre of excellence for R&D has enabled La Cornue to evolve the functionality of its products to meet the needs of today’s customer whilst still retaining its unique styling. Here’s to the next 100 years.”
